Exfoliating…Fun

At times, so many women wonder if I am wearing foundation and I proudly tell them no, that I am not wearing foundation that I just have great skin (okay that last part isn’t true I am actually very humble). This is a great compliment for me because I worked hard to get my skin back and I can definitely say that I owe it to my Clarisonic (www.clarisonic.com). This blog is in no way to tell anyone to purchase something as expensive as I have purchased, but I want you to understand the importance of using an exfoliating brush to cleanse your skin. Exfoliating is a great first step in creating a great foundation or a beginning in putting your best face forward. The more you exfoliate, or remove dead skin, the less foundation you use and the better for you. When I first purchased my Clarisonic, an exfoliating brush that oscillates at 300 times per second, I was very excited. I had heard great things about it and boy did it live up to the praise. When I use to wash my face, the “traditional” way, you know with my hands, I still felt that my face was still dirty and not at all clean even using a wash cloth didn’t make my face any cleaner. I started breaking out and having dark spots everywhere on my face and my skin tone was very splotchy. I always got compliments on my skin about how beautiful my complexion was, I never saw it that way thinking that these people had to be blind because when I look in the mirror I don’t see great complexion let alone beautiful. I tried different cleansers which made my complexion worse. So I had to get down to the basics and figure out what I was doing wrong. The skin is filled with many pores and fine lines (go ahead take a look) that when washing with just our hands, a flat surface, we are only removing a small percentage of the dirt and grime that builds up throughout the day. So a simple solution is using something with bristles, something that will actually lift and remove the dead skin, dirt and makeup that lies in the pores and fine lines of your skin and will actually take your cleanser to the next level. I decided to bite the bullet and purchase the Clarisonic ($195.00) I figured it’s my face and it’s what everyone will see and I wanted something that would make a difference. After about two weeks, along with my cleanser I immediately noticed a difference in my skin; my skin tone began to even out, the dark spots began to disappear and I had less breakouts. I started falling in love with my skin again. I never regretted purchasing the Clarisonic and I continue to use it daily. Believe me, I am not being paid by the Clarisonic Company and so my opinion is not biased or tainted. You can always use a simple brush that you can get at any beauty supply store. Sephora (www.sephora.com) sells exfoliating brushes for as low as $5.00 and up and many cleansers now come with an exfoliating brush. I recommend finding the cleanser that works for you and using the brush both day and night, the brush bristles are gentle enough where it won’t irritate your skin. My next blog we will discuss finding the cleanser that works for your skin type.
